
DASURECO hosted a Youth Convention on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the DASURECO Center for EC MCOs with the theme “Connecting Generations: Youth, Energy, and the Future of DASURECO.” The activity gathered young representatives from various sectors, including Indigenous Peoples (IP) youth and Member-Consumer-Owner Organizations (MCOOs).
The program opened with welcome messages from General Manager Engr. Jerry D. Morastil, PEE, and Board Vice-President Engr. Ernest Rase Sacedor of Kiblawan District. They emphasized the importance of youth engagement in sustaining the cooperative’s mission and ensuring its continued success.
The session proper covered key topics related to cooperative operations and responsibilities. The participants were introduced to the DASURECO Profile, giving them a clear understanding of who DASURECO is and what it does. Engr. Edsel P. Lurica, PEE, presented “The Power System and System Loss,” explaining how electricity is distributed and the technical efforts to minimize losses. Ace V. Masculino, Meter Reading Specialist, taught participants “How to Read Our Kilowatt-hour Meters,” helping them grasp the basics of meter reading and billing. Arianne Shyne A. Macrohon, CPA, discussed “Where Does Our Peso Go,” outlining how member contributions are managed and utilized. Lastly, Ariel C. Ferarriz, RME, explained “Republic Act 7832 or the Anti-Pilferage Law,” highlighting the impact of electricity pilferage and the shared responsibility of consumers to prevent it.
After the discussions, the participants formally organized the DASURECO Youth Sector. Provincial officers for Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental were elected, along with coop-wide officers who will lead the sector at the cooperative level.
