DASURECO Cooperative Profile
Gearing towards the progress of our community, DASURECO works for the people. Being the sole distributor of electricity in the provinces of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental do not only leave the best but also the challenge of keeping further its aim for rural electrification and transforming lives more than just business.
Life made change with the coming of electricity. It gives people the desire for convenience and innovation. A lot has changed in DASURECO’s more than four decades of existence and it has marked wonderful years for the provinces it served.
Born on June 1, 1975 as the 63rd electric cooperative under the National Electrification Administration, DASURECO serves one (1) City and 14 Municipalities covering 337 barangays.
DASURECO’s total membership reached to 139,924 in 2016 and has connected 162,967 households in the entire area coverage.
Over 40 years of hard work and good service are testimonies to DASURECO’s excellent performance hence received its awards and commendations over the years, slated at the top among the electric cooperatives in the Philippines as:
· A consistent “Best Electric Cooperative of the Philippines” since 1985;
· Garnered the highest recognition by the National Electrification Administration as top performing cooperative – the Emmanuel N. Pelaez Award in 1994;
· Elevated to the Hall of Fame in 1997; and
· Rated as a Five-Star Electric Cooperative in 2007.
And in 2015 —DASURECO was bestowed its highest recognition as the MEGA DIAMOND ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE WITH SPECIAL AWARD FOR A TRIPLE-A ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE OF THE PHILIPPINES; SINGLE DIGIT SYSTEM LOSS AWARD; AND ENGR. GODOFREDO N. GUYA– AS THE “DIAMOND” GENERAL MANAGER OF THE PHILIPPINES FOR PEDRO G. DUMOL AWARD

With good and systematic technical operation comes good people hence DASURECO was also recognized for having ENGR. JERRY D. MORASTIL as an Industry Expert in power system modeling analysis and in distribution system and utility CapEx planning.
DASURECO has truly been one of the best distribution utilities in the Country as it soars high to become a world-class utility.
DASURECO has always been true to its mission in providing reliablepower, thus, acquiring supply contingencies and encompassing tangible technical innovations.
In 2016, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) granted the Coop with Provisional Authority to draw power from Mapalad Power Corporation, Inc. (MPC) which then started extending energy to DASURECO at 6MW up to 14 MW. This augmented supply coming from existing suppliers, which are NPC-PSALM, Tudaya 2, Therma South Inc. (TSI), San Miguel Consolidated Power Corporation (SMCPC) and Filinvest Development Corporation (FDC). This Supply and Demand Side Management has spared the entire coverage area from supply-related outages for the year.
To further cope up with the fast-growing economy of the franchise area, the Coop has entered into contracts with various coal plants such as Sarangani Energy Corp (SEC) and GN Power to ensure our Member-Consumer-Owners of sufficient supply. Currently, the Cooperative is into conduct of studies and analyses on prospective power suppliers to guarantee power quality, dependable and reasonably-priced supply of electricity for the people of Davao del Sur for the year 2017 and onwards.
As always, the Cooperative keeps its member-consumer-owners in the loop of pursued innovations. At the height of its responsibility for total electrification considers whopping challenge for the Soldiers of Light, yet with the collar of reliance from its consumers and firm partnership with the local government, DASURECO will continue to grow and be of service to the people of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental.
